Makewood was started by Martyn Kemp upon returning home to Scotland after working for 10 years as a furniture maker in London. During that time he studied cabinet making at the London School of Furniture and, whilst employed by Trybar and M Dayman designs, worked on many prestigious projects including commissions in both Harrods and Selfridges.
A love of hand crafted items and quality craftsmanship led Martyn to open his own workshop. Where he enjoys creating fine quality pieces of furniture that will last a lifetime.
The Makewood workshop is situated in an old grain loft on Scotston Farm at the foot of the picturesque Sidlaw hills. Martyn himself lives close by with his wife and two children.
From our location in the heart of Scotland we are ideally situated to work in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Dundee and everywhere in between.
“If you have a project you think we might be able to help with then I’d be very happy to hear from you. Please drop me an email to firstname.lastname@example.org and I’ll be in touch to arrange a visit.”
