Confirmation of order

Confirmation of an order and an initial invoice will be sent when all details have been agreed with Makewood. Once we send this confirmation and payment has cleared, there is a binding and legal contract between you and the company. No addition or alteration to the order will be valid unless agreed in writing by us. In the event of such alteration a surcharge may be made at the discretion of Makewood.

On confirmation of order a first payment of 50% of the total purchase price is due. 40% will be due when the item(s) are delivered to your address and before installation(if required). The remaining balance of 10% is due upon completion. If you delay your agreed delivery or installation, the payment will still be due, unless otherwise agreed in writing with Makewood.

We reserve the right to charge interest on overdue payments at 3% above the current UK base rate which will be calculated on a daily basis. In the event of late or non payment and without affecting any other rights or remedies of the company, we shall be entitled to either suspend delivery of the goods and their installation without notice and charge interest until all amounts owing (including accrued interest) have been paid in full or terminate the contract by notice to you in writing.

All products supplied and or manufactured by Makewood, remain the property of the company until all payments have been made in full. For late or non payments post part or full installation, we reserve the right to remove these products and except no liability for damage to the property in doing so.

Once you have ordered an installation, we will contact you to agree a date on which the installation will start. If the installation you require is not a standard installation (for example, it includes moving services, connection services or building works) this may incur further charges and you may be asked to enter into a further agreement with us for these works.

Prior to installation you are responsible for:

Notifying us of any particular features which you know about the property which may make the installation more difficult than expected. We will assume that your property is not subject to any listing and that the installation works will not contravene any planning conditions or obligations unless you tell us otherwise.

Ensuring that you will not make any material alterations in the rooms to be fitted, and that in particular you have not installed, relocated or removed any fixed items that you have not told us about before we entered into the contract.

Ensuring that existing wiring, gas, water and waste pipework within the Property is generally of a legal and good standard. In particular, you acknowledge that you have checked the walls and floors are sound. You are responsible for locating any hidden wiring or pipework and the Installer shall not be liable for any damage caused by or in connection with any hidden conduits.

Checking that any appliance, accessory or component supplied by yourself is suitable for use with the goods For example, if you decided to retain your own taps you would need to make sure they are compatible with your new sink.

Removing all of the contents from the room where the installation is to be carried out. The installer may reasonably refuse to start work where this has not been done and you will be responsible for any delays (and the cost of any such delays) which arise as a result.

You are advised not to decorate rooms prior to installation in order to avoid minor incidental damage caused during installation.

The customer will be shown colour, timber and worktop samples. Due to the nature of some of the paints, timbers and worktops used there will be natural variations in colour and surface markings. No guarantee is given that the furniture and worktops supplied will be an exact replica in terms of colour and surface markings to those offered in the samples provided.

Fitting tolerances

Voids and fillers surrounding the installed furniture are part of normal fitting practice and cannot be accepted as a basis for complaint.

If the agreed delivery date is extended after signing the confirmation of order, the Company reserves the right to make a charge for the storage of your furniture.

Cancellation of orders will only be accepted if Makewood has agreed in writing and on condition that you reimburse the company all costs and expenses or losses and damages resulting from the cancellation.
